Judith Crispin (b. 1970 Sydney, Australia) studied music at Melbourne Conservatorium of Music and the Canberra School of Music before gaining her Ph.D in composition and musicology from the Australian National University in 2004. Following on from her doctoral studies with Larry Sitsky, Judith continued her composition studies with Emmanuel Nunes in Paris during 2005.

Judith has received a number of awards and prizes including the 2004 Nancy Van de Vate International Composition Prize for Opera, the Harold Allen Memorial Prize for Composition in both 1996 and 1997, an Australian Post-Graduate Award held from 1999-2003 and a Deutscher Akademischer Auschdienst (DAAD) stipendium zur wissenshaftlichen Aus - und Fortbildung in Deutschland in 2001.

From 2002 to 2007 Judith worked on a project with Larry Sitsky to preserve Australian compositions. This project has produced a series of Australian scores published through The Keys Press, Perth Australia. From 2000 to 2004 she was employed as a lecturer in Musicology and Composition at the Canberra School of Music, ANU. Judith has also worked as a guest lecturer at the American University in Cairo and as an occasional interviewer for the Oral History Department, National Library of Australia. Currently Judith lectures in composition and musicology at the University of Southern Queensland.
